Home > What we do > Housing and Communities

We work with local authorities, charities and government to explore new approaches to improving the life chances of vulnerable people and communities.

Social Finance has developed a number of innovative initiatives to address complex social problems in local areas, from increasing the supply of stable and well managed housing for the elderly, migrants and low incomes families, to sustainable funding models to maintain local parks and green spaces. We have helped attract grant funding and social investment to support more inclusive local growth.

We work with local authorities and other local agencies to make the business case for change, whether to shift resources towards prevention, ensure that early intervention services are effective or to design a property fund to buy housing stock to accomodate homeless families. We have helped authorities raise over £100m and supported in-house teams to drive change. With the introduction of the Housing Reduction Act we have been supporting authorities to analyse the drivers and risks of homelessness, redesign pathways and implement preventative measures.
