Joanne Barber

Joanne works as a Senior Workforce Lead within the IPS Grow team, supporting services across the Midlands and East of England. She brings a strong professional background in mental health, employment, and well-being, which enables her to contribute across various areas of Social Finance. Not only does Joanne support the HEP team, but she currently serves as one of the company’s Mental Health First Aiders and is also an Associate in Welfare, reflecting her ongoing commitment to holistic support and cross-sector collaboration.

Joanne joined Social Finance in 2021, bringing her passion, enthusiasm, and deep expertise in mental health to support not only clients but also colleagues across the organisation.

Her career has largely focused on health and well-being, including roles as a palliative nursing assistant, supporting individuals with mental health barriers into employment, and lecturing on the complex nature of trauma at Chester University. Joanne is driven by a strong commitment to equity and ensures that fairness and inclusion are central to everything she does.

Her dedication to supporting those facing barriers to employment has earned widespread recognition—including from HRH Princess Anne and the Armed Forces Covenant—where she received the highest award for her work with military personnel.
