Oben Desmond Ashu

Oben joined Social Finance in 2025 and has since been an integral member of the Engineering & Analytics team, contributing to the design, development, and ongoing support of major technical projects across the organisation. His work spans a wide range of responsibilities, from improving the security and maintainability of internal systems to supporting the delivery of robust, data-driven tools that underpin Social Finance’s work with partners.
He has contributed to the development of the Data Platform, helping to ensure that it is both scalable and secure, and to the enhancement of the IPS Grow reporting tool, a key resource for improving outcomes in employment support. In these and other projects, he focuses on creating technical solutions that are both practical and sustainable, enabling teams across Social Finance to work more efficiently and make better use of data.
With a background in software development, Oben combines technical expertise with a collaborative approach to problem-solving. He works across multiple technologies and tools, applying best practices in security, testing, and maintainability to ensure that systems remain resilient over time. He is particularly interested in the intersection of technology and social impact, and is motivated by the opportunity to use his engineering skills to support projects that address complex social challenges.
By bridging the gap between technical implementation and social outcomes, he ensures that Social Finance’s technology infrastructure supports its mission to design better systems and services for people and communities.
