Stephen Rice

Stephen joined Social Finance as a Senior Advisor in 2025 after working as a consultant alongside the Children’s Social Care Data project for 18 months. Prior to this he had been a practicing social worker for 20 years in the UK, first as a practitioner in child protection for 10 years, then as a leader and consultant. He has worked in several start-up environments, and partnered with Local Authority Children’s Services Departments to support them on change programmes.

Stephen has experience both in direct practice with children and families, and in building systems in organisations that support practice to be effective. He has held organisational responsibility for workforce wellbeing, recruitment and retention, and coaching and training staff and managers.
