Who we are

We are a not-for-profit enterprise. We have a team of over 130 people, diverse in skills and experiences, united in our passion for making the world a fairer place.

We build and work in dynamic partnerships to unleash the potential of communities. Together we make change happen in areas such as social care, education and health, employment and children’s services, and issues such as homelessness and domestic abuse.

We have a huge range of skills and experience under one roof, so we can treat every issue as unique and build a bespoke team to tackle each one.

Our values

We unearth the evidence, ask the awkward questions and don’t give up until we get an answer.

Through rigorous thinking, and learning from others, we generate ideas that make a big social impact.

We look from all angles, welcome all viewpoints. We seek to understand without reproach.

We build strong teams from diverse backgrounds, with a shared goal to create lasting partnerships for change.

We are ambitious for lasting change and won’t stop until social systems truly meet people’s needs.

Change is hard. But by combining social insight, business flair and practical innovation – we make it happen.

What we do

We work with our partners to help design, fund and scale solutions to some of the most challenging social problems in the UK and across the world.

We started in 2007 with a pioneering idea for funding and delivering social change projects: social impact bonds. Now better known as social outcomes contracts, they have since generated over £600m worldwide and transformed the landscape for socially-motivated investment.

We’re still the experts in this area – we’ve supported the development, contracting and delivery of over 100 social outcomes contracts, across 50 countries. But we also offer a full suite of services to design and deliver projects and take them to scale.

There are so many people here from different backgrounds that it‘s not about what you did before, it’s about what you can bring to the job.

A group of people in an office. They look relaxed. Some are drinking coffee while others eat pastries from boxes arranged on a table.

Our multi-skilled people come from a huge range of backgrounds across the non-profit, public, private and financial sectors. They have a deep understanding of the issues we work on and the organisations and sectors we work with, and are highly experienced in supporting systems change.

We have experts in service and healthcare commissioning, design thinking, digital, data science, product development, financial analysis and much more. We’re working to recruit people with lived experience of the issues we address, and we’re connected to an extensive network of expert advisors.

Who we work with

We’re trusted to design and deliver life changing projects by local and national governments in the UK and across the world, along with charities, funders, commissioners and the people and communities we work with.

The social impact work we do is supported by a mixture of:

  • Public contracts awarded by local authorities, government departments and health bodies in the UK and abroad, donor agencies.

  • Grants and social investment from trusts, investors and organisations like the National Lottery Community Fund and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
