The World’s first Social Impact Bond (the Peterborough SIB) pioneered by Social Finance in 2010 became a ‘guiding light’ for social reform
The SIB was designed to tackle one of society’s most intractable problems – how to stop prisoners re-offending when they leave jail. With the backing of the outgoing Prime Minister Gordon Brown it was launched in Peterborough in 2010 – seven years later the Ministry of Justice pronounced it a success.
